Activity Overview
The goal of current treatment strategies for patients with rheumatoid arthritis is to achieve remission or low disease activity. Use of composite measurements of disease activity and modification of treatment regimens accordingly has proven effective in achieving and maintaining control of disease. This activity discusses treatment options and presents practical strategies for managing patients with rheumatoid arthritis in a case-based scenario.

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of rheumatologists and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Discuss quantitative measurement of disease activity
• Design a treatment strategy to achieve optimal control of disease
• Apply objective measurements of disease state to monitor patients with rheumatoid arthritis
