Dr. Calabrese is a Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University as well as at the Ohio State University School of Medicine. He holds the RJ Fasenmyer Chair of Clinical Immunology at the Cleveland Clinic, where he also serves as Head of the Clinical Immunology Section and Vice Chairman, Department of Rheumatic & Immunologic Diseases. He received his osteopathic degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and trained in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, followed by a fellowship in rheumatic and immunologic disease. He also competed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Athritis Foundation.
Dr. Calabrese is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. He is a member of numerous societies, including the Clinical Immunology Society and the American Osteopathic Association, and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. Among his many awards and honors, Dr. Calabrese has received the Phillips Medal of Public Service from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Bruce Hubbard Stewart Award for humanitarianism.
Dr. Calabrese serves on numerous editorial boards and is a deputy editor of Arthritis Care and Research. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the subjects of immunology and rheumatology and is the author of more than 300 published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews.

Roy Fleischmann received a medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He completed a residency in medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and a fellowship in rheumatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York. In addition to his faculty position at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Dr. Fleischmann is in private practice at St. Paul University Hospital in Dallas.
Board certified in internal medicine with subspecialty certification in rheumatology, Dr. Fleischmann holds positions of prominence with several professional societies. He is the President of the Dallas–Fort Worth Rheumatism Association and a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society. Additionally, Dr. Fleischmann is Past President of the Texas Rheumatism Association, and he has served on both the Finance Committee and the Fund-Raising Committee of the Research and Education Foundation of the American College of Rheumatology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.
Dr. Fleischmann has authored 2 book chapters and published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Arthritis and Rheumatism, Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, and Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America. He serves as a journal referee for Arthritis and Rheumatism, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine, Journal of Rheumatology, Lancet, and several other publications. He is an Associate Editor of Rheumatology (Oxford). With over 30 years' experience as a clinical investigator, Dr. Fleischmann has been a principal or co-principal investigator in over 750 clinical studies in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, pain management, and other areas of rheumatology. He is also a widely sought speaker and has presented at many symposia worldwide.
Joel M. Kremer, MD

Joel M. Kremer completed a medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at Albany Medical Center Hospital and a rheumatology fellowship at Albany Medical College. He joined the faculty there in 1979, becoming a full professor in 1990 when he assumed the title of Head of the Division of Rheumatology. In 2000, he became Director of Research at The Center for Rheumatology in Albany, New York.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in rheumatology, Dr. Kremer holds membership in several professional societies, including the American Federation for Clinical Research, the New York Academy of Science, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Kremer is president and founder of CORRONA, a research organization that gathers data from rheumatologists and patients throughout the United States. Among many honors, Dr. Kremer has received the Engalitcheff Award given by The Arthritis Foundation for “contributions which improve the quality of life of patients with arthritis” (1997) and the Le Prix Roger Demers, given by the Laurentian Rheumatology Society (Quebec, Canada) for contributions to the international rheumatology community (2005).
Dr. Kremer has published approximately 135 articles in the peer-reviewed literature and has authored 19 chapters and 6 texts. His research interests have focused on therapeutics in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and on dietary intervention in this area. He has worked extensively on methotrexate and combination therapies that use new agents and methotrexate.
Philip J. Mease, MD
Dr. Mease is a Clinical Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Chief of Rheumatology Clinical Research at the Swedish Hospital Medical Center, and conducts clinical practice with Seattle Rheumatology Associates. He earned his medical degree at Stanford University and served his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington, where he subsequently was chief resident and fellow in rheumatology.
Dr. Mease conducts clinical trials of emerging therapies for a number of rheumatic disease conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters and is on review boards for Arthritis & Rheumatism, the Journal of Rheumatology, and Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases. Awards he has received include the Medical Communicator Award of the American College of Rheumatology, awarded annually to the physician who most effectively and dynamically presents rheumatology subjects to the public.
An advisor and educator on the study and therapy of rheumatic diseases, Dr. Mease is on the medical advisory boards of numerous pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as the Lupus Foundation, the Psoriasis Foundation, and the Northwest Arthritis & Osteoporosis Institute. He is a founding organizer of GRAPPA (Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis), an international consortium of rheumatology and dermatology investigators and representatives of patient service leagues, the biopharmaceutical industry, and regulatory agencies. He is also chair or co-chair of three working groups of OMERACT (Outcome Measures in Rheumatology): psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, and single joint assessment.
Gregg J. Silverman, MD

Gregg J. Silverman completed a medical degree at Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey and served his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego, followed by a rheumatology fellowship and research fellowship in clinical and experimental immunology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla, California.
Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Silverman is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Henry Kunkel Society, and the American Association of Immunologists. Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board and on the National Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Silverman is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.
Dr. Silverman’s research group has focused on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of B-lymphocyte responses in infectious, autoimmune, and chronic inflammatory diseases. His current research efforts are supported by National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the Alliance for Lupus Research in projects that seek to develop new therapeutic agents for the treatment of lupus and other autoimmune diseases.
